Richard LeDue, Monday mornings and their mugs

Monday mornings and their mugs

wait for cracks to appear
or brace themselves the best they can
against being
dropped onto a floor,
flat as weeks
with edges one fantasizes about
falling off in the name of discovery,
only to discover the same lies
we tell ourselves
about how the trees
look different everyday
and the footprints going in circles
belong to someone else.

Richard LeDue (he/him) lives in Norway House, Manitoba, Canada. He has been published online and in print. He is the author of nine books of poetry. His latest book It Could Be Worse is forthcoming from Alien Buddha Press.
