Winter gale gusts.
Ponderosa Pines
dressed in white
sway to and fro
like whispering seniors
in hospice marching
stationary on conveyor belt machines
in the cobalt blue exercise room
strengthening their limbs for
the weight of falling snow.

Jeremy J Sutton teaches American Literature to eleventh grade students and chairs the English
