Ruth Egan, Living Beings

Ruth Egan is an Irish artist who studied visual arts at fine art academy St Lucas in Brussels, Belgium. Her work is mainly in painting and some printmaking. Currently based in Dublin, she has had solo exhibitions of paintings and prints in both Belgium and Ireland, and participated in Arts festivals around Ireland.

The physical process and means of creating an artwork has always been at the centre of Ruth’s practice where primary concerns are texture and layering in the works, together with the interplay of form & colour and the dynamics of light & shade. Human or animal forms are recurrent themes in her practice centred on capturing the contours created by shape & movement and the vividness of living beings.
