Lorraine Carey works primarily with oils on canvas, slate and stone, and occasionally uses watercolours/oil pastels.

Greatly inspired by the Atlantic’s beautiful, rugged features North and South, Lorraine’s work aims to capture the environment in all its splendour, from craggy rocks and cliff tops to the soft, wispy marram grass and contours of beaches. Snow scenes and seascapes are her favourites — capturing the brilliant white of a fresh fall and effervescent sea foam. Both are fleeting in their passing, like life.

Lorraine’s natural surroundings influence many pieces. Often she draws on inspiration from her poetry.

Lorraine Carey is a Donegal poet and artist now living in Kerry. Her work has been widely published in literary journals in Britain, Ireland, Australia and the U.S. She has contributed poetry to several anthologies, was a past winner and runner in previous Charles Macklin poetry competitions and was a runner-up in the Trocaire Poetry Ireland competition 2017.

Lorraine’s artwork featured as the cover image for Issue 15 of Three Drops From A Cauldron. Her debut poetry collection, From Doll House Windows (Revival Press), was published in June 2017.
